How can natural gas benefit your business

The key to any successful business is to use the available resources wisely and efficiently to increase business growth and provide a vision for a brighter future. It goes without saying that in order to achieve these goals, one must be able to adapt, change with the industry, and adjust the right solutions to each specific business that will effectively perform the respective functions.

Convenient, high-quality, efficient, sustainable and profitable – these are the qualities that entrepreneurs are looking for. Is the service able to include and combine all this? Precisely this could be the contribution of natural gas to your company. We believe that such solutions are always worth evaluating for any entrepreneur wishing to learn more about them.

Natural gas can perform several critical functions at the same time, which is not the case when we can compare it with many others. Within the company, we can divide the use of natural gas into three main categories. Natural gas for heat and heating, gas for industrial processes, as well as gas for transport – these are the main aspects that we will look at and hopefully will help to come to valuable conclusions.

Gas for heating

It is clear enough that due to our geographical location, a need for heating and heat is right after the need for direct raw materials, labour and electricity. This is one of the key roles that natural gas has been playing for some time. With gas heating, there is no need for separate storage and regular replenishment of fuel, gas is always available. Natural gas is normally transported by pipelines, but it can be cooled down and liquefied, and then transported by truck in the form of LNG (liquefied natural gas) to be used in areas and properties that are not connected to gas network.

Natural gas is one of the most affordable energy sources, in terms of the initial investment and operating costs. On top of that, modern gas boilers are fully automated and built to be safe and efficient. Natural gas has a high calorific value and is environmentally friendly. Unlike other fuels, gas has no harmful or odorous combustion residues and emits only carbon dioxide with water vapour. Due to clean combustion, natural gas could be a suitable solution for heating the buildings located, for example, in populated areas, and a great way to avoid their pollution by smoke or odours. This point could possibly also be a factor for producers or farmers, where it would not be desirable to subject products to toxic emissions.

Gas for industry

Natural gas is very widely used in many different industrial processes, and it all depends on individual adaptation. Examples are the glass and building materials industries, where natural gas is recognized as a capable and profitable assistant. For reference, the calorific value of natural gas is about 10.5 kWh/m3 and its maximum combustion temperature is above 2100°C.

Like in the case of heating, industry can also benefit from automating combustion processes and adjusting the desired achievable combustion temperature. Controlling and monitoring these processes is fast and secure. The peculiarities of gas as a fuel allow corrections to be made very dynamically.

In view of all the above, gas consumption possibilities are also very flexible, and it is possible to adapt to unforeseen situations, where, for example, production volumes have to be reduced or, more pleasantly, increased. In some cases, when the industrial site is located outside the pipeline network, it is possible to install and use a liquefied gas solution with regasification equipment.

Gas for transport

Depending on the fleet owned or used by the company, it is very advantageous to use natural gas as a transport fuel. With supporting state taxation system the price of gas is significantly lower than conventional fuels, such as diesel or petrol, and with such large differences, savings can be substantial for those who carry out such transport operations.

Natural gas can be a solution for both small-scale land transport and sea and international road transport. For domestic road transport and public transport, compressed natural gas (CNG) is recommended and used, but for sea and long-distance international haulage – liquefied natural gas (LNG). When comparing compressed and liquefied natural gas, the main difference is that we can store compressed natural gas under pressure at normal temperatures, but by liquefying it, it is possible to obtain a higher energy density in a smaller volume. It is necessary to maintain a cryogenic temperature to ensure the liquefied state.

A more environmentally friendly resource

Have you thought about where the resources consumed by your company come from?

What impact do they have on the environment and is this choice the most cost-effective for the company? This is undeniably a time for every company to think about how to make its business more environmentally friendly, saving not only resources but also money.

As many of us know, natural gas is one of the cleanest fuel resources. When burned, it does not produce ashes, smoke or unpleasant odours, which affect both the environment and our own well-being. Why is this so? The compounds in natural gas contain carbon and hydrogen, and their combustion produces only two by-products – CO2 and water vapour. Also, the natural gas combustion process does not release substances harmful to human health. By using natural gas conscientiously and efficiently, we can reduce CO2 emissions, thus strengthening natural gas’ position as one of the most environmentally friendly sources of energy. Compared to other fossile energy sources, natural gas has the lowest emissions.

Due to the fact that natural gas is normally transported via pipelines, modes of transport such as sea, air or land transport are also not used. Naturally, by avoiding this link in the chain, we can list two things that the environment will gain if a company chooses natural gas as its energy source:

1. Lower emissions and air pollution
2. Lower burden roads and railways.

Not only in European countries and Latvia, but also in many other countries around the world, legislation, regulations and quotas are moving more and more actively in this direction, which is positive for the environment and reduces pollution. Naturally, entrepreneurs will also feel increasing pressure to reduce their company’s carbon footprint and toxic emissions. The need to move towards sustainable and environmentally friendly solutions is already a reality today, and it is an undeniable need that must be weighed up by every entrepreneur and person in order to ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.

Why choose natural gas?

When choosing any service, the entrepreneur must consider what the company’s benefits will be by making a particular choice. You usually have to choose between two – the quality of service and the financial benefit, but when choosing Elenger natural gas, the company is clearly the winner, because it gets both.

A company that has not yet chosen natural gas as its energy resource has not taken the opportunity to be sustainable, flexible to its needs and environmentally friendly. Combining such a wide range of applications, natural gas is an economical and convenient energy source, which solves issues of heating, hot water, transport costs, etc. When you choose natural gas, you choose to manage smarter!
