Elenger brought two shiploads of LNG to Klaipeda in March
On the order of Elenger, the largest privately-owned energy company in the Finnish-Baltic region, the second of the two March LNG cargoes arrived at the port of Klaipeda this weekend on the tanker Arctic Aurora; a week earlier a shipload of gas was delivered there by the tanker Arctic Princess. The company will bring the next LNG cargo to the newly built Inkoo terminal in Finland in April.
“We are one of the few energy companies in the region to purchase gas directly from the producers, this allows us to offer our customers better security and better prices, and over the past year we have managed to increase our market share in Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and now recently also in Poland,” stated Dāvis Skulte, the Member of the Management Board of Elenger Group.
“The global price of gas has gone down, we see it remaining at the same level for at least the next year, this has given customers confidence, and many of those who used other fuels in the meantime have either already returned to gas or are planning to do so in the near future,” said Skulte.
Elenger has booked terminal capacity to bring 10 LNG cargoes until the fall of this year – three deliveries have already arrived in the port of Klaipeda in Lithuania, and seven more will arrive in the port of Inkoo in Finland in the spring and summer. At the beginning of the year, on January 17, Isabella from the United States arrived in Klaipeda, on March 10, Arctic Princess from Norway, and on March 18, also from Norway, Arctic Aurora. Last year, Elenger bought five large shiploads of gas for its customers through the port of Klaipeda.
Elenger started using the small LNG terminal in Klaipeda, Lithuania already in 2017, in 2019 a contract was signed with Klaipeda Nafta, after which LNG was purchased through the Klaipeda Independence floating terminal and sent to the natural gas network. In addition, the company has been delivering LNG with trucks for bunkering ships and to off-grid industrial customers for many years.
Elenger offers its customers natural gas in the form of pipeline gas, compressed natural gas (CNG) and liquefied natural gas (LNG) and manages the largest gas network in Estonia. The company is actively engaged in international energy trading and develops a renewable energy portfolio in the form of solar energy and biomethane production and sales.
Elenger operates in Finland, the Baltic states and Poland, in homeland Estonia it carries Eesti Gaas brand name. The group has a total of 50,000 customers.
