Elenger, known in homeland Estonia as Eesti Gaas, is one of the largest and most experienced private energy groups in the Baltic region.
Our roots can be traced back to 1865 when the first gas lamp was lit in the streets of Tallinn. Many years of experience have given us a unique understanding of the natural gas market, but more important than history is our continuous development. The world is changing and our company is changing with it.
Today, environmental issues are more important than ever, people as consumers must be more responsible for what they consume, but suppliers and producers must also take responsibility, because only together can we achieve a visible result. The desire for a greener and sustainable environment encourages our team to actively develop cleaner energy and new technologies for industries, transport and home customers. Expanding LNG and renewable portfolio
Over the years, our brand has evolved from a traditional gas company to a modern and environmentally friendly energy company. Our name Elenger comprises our offering of electricity, energy, gas and LNG. Our vision is to be the leading provider of clean energy solutions in the Baltic Sea region.
We build and maintain pipelines and develop integrated energy solutions for the most complex business customers. On top of traditional pipeline gas we work with compressed natural gas (CNG), liquefied natural gas (LNG), as well as biomethane – a local organically produced renewable form of natural gas. We are one of the few companies in the Baltics that has direct access to both pipeline gas and various LNG supply sources.

Elenger is the LNG sales leader in the Baltic and Finnish region and the biggest TTS (truck-to-ship) bunkering service provider in Northern Europe. Currently, about one of five passengers in the port of Tallinn is transported using environmentally friendly LNG fuel, and upon the arrival of Tallink’s new LNG-fuelled MyStar ferry, we will be able to safely call the Tallinn-Helsinki route as truly green line.
In addition to natural gas, we also provide electricity and are involved in the production of electricity using solar energy, which supplies light and energy to thousands of offices and homes by the Baltic Sea. Altogether, Elenger serves a total of some 50,000 customers and employs 240 people.
In connection with the opening of the Baltic and Finnish natural gas markets and the creation of a single regional gas market, Elenger expanded its operations outside homeland and at the beginning of 2018 started operating in Latvia. In the following years we also entered the Finnish and Lithuanian market. The Finnish-Baltic gas market exceeds 60 TWh and, based on our experience, we have set a goal to obtain at least a sixth of it.
Establishing foot on the Latvian gas market
At present, we have already gained a solid market share in the corporate customer market in Latvia, becoming one of the largest natural gas traders in the country. In addition to large customers, we are increasingly focused on serving small business and household customer segments. We have successfully increased sales of electricity and natural gas, offering our services to some 400 business customers.
Most of Elenger’s current energy portfolio in Latvia is comprised of pipeline gas. The development of LNG trade is also a clear priority. We have started regular LNG deliveries to corporate customers in Latvia, thus providing the customer with all the advantages of natural gas in a place where the public pipeline network is not available. We have a fleet of specialized LNG trucks and extensive experience with various sources of supply, logistics and technological solutions, guaranteeing 100% security of LNG supply.
